Jean-Francis Monvoisin obtained his CAPES in music, a first Prize in singing and a first prize in Chamber Music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. Manuel Rosenthal offered him his first contract - Poème de l'amour et de la mer by Chausson for Radio-France. His first role on stage was at l’Opéra de Lyon, in the role of Hoffman, under the direction of Kent Nagano (1994).

His career became international in 1998: debuts in Italy under the direction of Richard Bonynge in I Puritani with Luciana Sera, Scottish National Opera in Norma (Pollione), Richard Armstrong conducting, Edinburgh Festival for Giovanna d’Arco, Cleveland Opera in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod, Opéra de Paris-Bastille for Salambò by Fénelon, l’Opéra de Montreal where he sang la Bohème, Puccini (2000) and at Lima Opera for Tosca and Carmen.

The further development of his voice led to a wider repertoire: La Damnation de Faust with Bremen Opera (dir. Gunther Neuhold), Die Ägyptische Helena by R. Strauss in Cagliari, Canio from Paillasse and Turridu from
Cavalleria Rusticana in Hawaï, Radamés from Aïda in Lübeck, Carmen under the direction of maestro Carella. He was acclaimed for his role as Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos with l’Opéra de Marseille.

In 2003, he made his debuts on two renowned European stages: la Monnaie in Brussels with José van Dam in Œdipe sur la route from Bartholomée (World Premiere) and Geneva Opera where he sang Faust in Damnation de Faust. Since then, he has performed on many international stages: in Italy - Roma, Lecce, Lucca, Bolzano, Académie Santa Cecilia (Antonio Pappano), in Belgium, in the Netherlands where he sang Mme Butterfly (Pinkerton), in Cape Town, in Switzerland (Fribourg and Verbier Festival) and in Germany where he sang l'Africaine in 2008 by Meyerbeer and la Damnation de Faust.

In France he sang in Limoges, Saint Denis de la Réunion, Metz, and Grand Théatre de Tours where he performed the role of Rodolfo with Mireille Delunsch, Le Pays from Ropartz (role of Tual).

This season, he will be performing with Nueremberg Opera Benvenuto Cellini by Berlioz, Il Podesta from Finta Giardinera with Opéra de Fribourg, Hoffman in Lyon and Bacchus in Grand Théatre de Tours.
